Cashew Husk Pellet
Cashew Husk Pellet is a sustainable biomass fuel made from cashew husks, offering high calorific value, low sulfur, and stable supply. An eco-friendly alternative to coal for boilers and industrial energy.
- Description
Description
Cashew Husk Pellet is a sustainable biomass fuel derived from cashew husks β the outer shells of cashew nuts that remain after extracting Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL). Traditionally underutilized, cashew husks are now transformed into high-value renewable energy products through drying, grinding, and pelletizing under high pressure.
Vietnam, as the worldβs leading cashew processor, generates over 1.5 million metric tons of cashew husks annually. This abundant supply provides a stable and cost-effective raw material base, ensuring that Cashew Husk Pellets can be produced consistently and at scale for global export markets.
Technical properties of Cashew Husk Pellets:
-
π Diameter: 6β8 mm
-
π Length: 10β30 mm
-
π§ Moisture: β€10%
-
π«οΈ Ash content: 2β4%
-
π₯ Calorific value: 4,200β4,800 kcal/kg
-
β»οΈ Sulfur: nearly zero
-
βοΈ Bulk density: 1.1β1.3 g/cmΒ³
These properties make cashew husk pellets highly efficient for industrial boilers, biomass power plants, ceramics production, textiles, and food processing. Compared to wood pellets, cashew husk pellets offer similar calorific value but are often 10β15% cheaper, making them an attractive option for industrial buyers.
Global market demand is growing rapidly:
-
Japan imports over 3.5 million MT of biomass pellets annually, with government subsidies supporting renewable energy.
-
South Korea consumes 2.5β3 million MT/year, with Vietnam supplying around 40% of total imports.
-
European Union countries such as Germany, Netherlands, and Denmark are phasing out coal and increasing biomass imports to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Pricing: FOB Vietnam prices for cashew husk pellets typically range from 120β150 USD/MT, depending on quality and certification.
Certifications required for export:
-
π± FSC (Forest Stewardship Council): ensuring sustainable sourcing.
-
π ENplus A2 / ISO 17225-6: compliance with international biomass fuel standards.
-
π§ͺ Laboratory testing: reports on calorific value, ash, and moisture.
-
π Sustainability Report: proof of COβ reduction compared to coal.
SVC supplies Cashew Husk Pellets in jumbo bags (500β800 kg) or in bulk shipments, with full certification and documentation to meet the requirements of premium markets. By integrating pellet production into the cashew value chain, SVC maximizes resource efficiency and contributes to a more sustainable global energy transition.
π Cashew Husk Pellet is not only an eco-friendly renewable energy source but also a strategic by-product that enhances Vietnamβs cashew industry, turning waste into value and supporting the global move towards green energy.
