Cashew Shell Residues (De-Oiled)

Cashew Shell Residues are the byproduct after extracting Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL). With a calorific value of 4,400–4,600 KCAL/kg, they are widely used as biomass fuel thanks to low cost, easy combustion, and stable year-round supply.

Description

Cashew Shell Residues (De-Oiled) – Biomass Fuel from Vietnam

Cashew Shell Residues, also known as De-Oiled Cashew Shell Cake (DOCS), cashew shell waste, or cashew shell biomass fuel, are the remaining shells after the extraction of Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL). This industrial byproduct is widely collected and used as a low-cost biomass fuel or as raw material for pellet production.

📊 Product Specifications

  • Product name: Cashew Shell Residues (De-Oiled)

  • Origin: Binh Phuoc, Vietnam

  • Composition: Mainly cashew shells after oil extraction

  • Condition: De-oiled, in dry residue form

  • Moisture: 12 – 22% (adjustable on request)

  • Impurities: < 3%

  • Heavy metals: Not detected (lead, arsenic, mercury)

  • Calorific value: 4,400 – 4,600 KCAL/kg

  • Packaging: Jumbo bags or bulk loading in containers/trucks

🔎 Characteristics

  • From every 100 MT of raw cashew shells, 18–22 MT of CNSL is extracted, and the remaining portion becomes cashew shell residues.

  • Known for easy combustion, high calorific value, and cost efficiency, cashew shell residues can be used directly or blended with coal dust, wood chips, or rice husk to enhance boiler efficiency.

  • Their abundant supply and affordability make them one of the most widely used biomass fuels in industrial boilers.

🔥 Applications

Industrial fuel – substitute for coal, wood, and rice husk.

Boilers and kilns – efficient and affordable energy source.

Blended fuel – combined with coal dust, wood chips, or pellets to boost heat output.

Biomass pellet production – used as raw material for eco-friendly energy.

🌍 Advantages

  • High calorific value: 4,400 – 4,600 KCAL/kg.

  • Cost-effective: cheaper than traditional fuels.

  • Consistent supply: available year-round from Vietnam’s cashew industry.

  • Flexible usage: suitable for direct burning or fuel blending.

⚠️ Considerations

  • Cashew shell resin may cause deposits in boilers if residues are used 100% without blending.

  • Recommended to mix with other fuels to optimize performance and extend boiler lifespan.

  • Transportation requires proper handling to reduce dust and environmental impact.
