Q2/2025 has shown strong recovery in Vietnam’s cashew sector after a slow start to the year. With rising global demand and improved FOB pricing, cashew exports have increased in both volume and value, driven by growth in key markets such as China, the U.S., and Europe.
1. Export Performance
According to Vietnam Customs data, cashew exports in April 2025 reached USD 494.06 million, a sharp 28.6% increase compared to March.
By the end of April, total export value reached USD 1.33 billion, up more than 10% year-on-year.
Key drivers of growth:
- Low inventory from early 2025
- Strong demand in China, U.S., EU
- Steady rise in FOB prices since mid-March
2. Rising Export Prices
Average FOB export prices in Q2 reached approximately USD 6,880/ton, up 28% compared to Q2/2024.
WW320 kernel prices ranged from USD 7.20–7.50/kg, peaking at USD 7.60/kg.
Factors supporting price increases:
- Tight RCN supply from Africa
- Higher logistics and fuel costs
- Increased buyer demand for certification and traceability
3. Key Export Markets
- China: Rapid growth with USD 149.11 million in April, up 129.8% vs. March
- U.S.: Largest buyer at USD 289.28 million in 4 months, 21.69% of total exports
- EU: Germany, Netherlands, France remain stable importers of certified and private-label cashews
- Middle East: Rising demand for salted and flavored SKUs, especially in Ramadan
4. Global Market Trends
- EU & North America: Preference for organic, certified, sustainably packaged products
- Asia & Middle East: High interest in flavored and snack-ready cashews
- Buyers favor shorter contracts, weekly pricing, and flexible shipping terms due to logistics risks
