🔍 Overview of the Cashew Market in Q1/2025

The global cashew market witnessed significant fluctuations in the first quarter of 2025. Factors such as raw material supply, price volatility, consumer demand, and international trade policies have greatly impacted the industry.

📌 Price & Supply Developments

1️⃣ Export volume decreased, but value increased

• In the first two months of 2025, Vietnam exported 62,400 tons of cashew nuts, valued at $424.8 million, a 31.8% decline in volume but only a 13.7% decrease in value compared to the same period in 2024.

• The average export price reached $6,811.5/ton, up 26.7% from the previous year.

2️⃣ Fluctuations in major export markets

• The United States, Netherlands, and China remained the top three consumers of Vietnamese cashews, accounting for 21.7%, 11.8%, and 7.1% of total exports, respectively.

• Compared to the same period in 2024, cashew export value to the U.S. fell by 32.5%, while China saw a sharp 76.8% decline. Meanwhile, exports to the Netherlands increased by 23.5%.

📌 Global Cashew Consumption Trends

3️⃣ Demand in major markets showed positive growth

• In the first 10 months of 2024, the U.S. imported over $874 million worth of cashews, a 27.5% increase from 2023. Vietnam’s cashew nuts accounted for 89.65% of the U.S. market share.

• The EU’s cashew imports from non-EU suppliers reached $732 million, up 4.9% compared to 2023. Vietnam held 71.56% of the EU’s total cashew import market share.

4️⃣ Rising competition among exporting countries

• Vietnam remains the world’s top cashew exporter, shipping 730,000 tons in 2024, valued at $4.37 billion, up 13.3% in volume and 20.2% in value from 2023.

• Vietnamese processing companies have continued to invest in modern technology and equipment to meet international quality standards.

📌 Market Forecast for Q2/2025

Raw cashew prices may continue to rise as processing demand increases post-Q1.

Vietnamese cashew processors may face pressure from rising raw material and logistics costs.

The demand for organic cashews, processed cashew products, and value-added items will keep expanding in Europe and North America.
