The price per kg is set mainly by the grade, the cost of imported raw cashew nuts and the shipment period. For the latest quote, see our cashew price today page.

Each bulletin applies to its stated shipment period; the 28 September bulletin is for October shipment.

From July to early September the white-whole grades did not move, while each lower grade rose by US$0.10/kg. At the end of September, WW320 and WW240 each rose by US$0.10/kg, keeping the gap between them at US$0.90/kg. Prices change with the market, so treat these tables as a dated reference and check the current bulletin before you budget.
Why do larger kernels cost more per kg?
The number in a grade name is a kernel count per pound. Under the AFI specification for cashew kernels, a 180 grade has 140–180 kernels per pound, a 240 grade 220–240 and a 320 grade 300–320 — so a smaller number means a bigger kernel.
Every lot of raw nuts yields a mix of sizes, and the largest wholes are the smallest share of that mix. They carry the highest price per kg. Broken kernels, such as LP, sell well below wholes because they suit uses where shape does not matter — bakery, confectionery and ingredients. In SVC’s bulletin of 4 September, LP sold at US$1.90/kg below WW320.
What moves the price per kg?
The cost of raw cashew nuts. Vietnamese processors rely on imported raw nuts. In 2025, Vietnam imported around 3 million tonnes, and the average import price rose 18.2% to US$1,525.2 per tonne, according to customs data reported by VietNamNet. Cambodia was the largest supplier by value. When raw nut costs rise, kernel prices per kg follow.
The shipment period. SVC quotes each bulletin for a stated shipment window. A price for nearby shipment and one for two months ahead can differ, so always compare offers for the same shipment month.
Demand by grade. Grades do not always move together. From July to early September, wholes held while lower grades rose; at the end of September, the whole grades followed. Our September market update explains the first part of that pattern.
Terms of sale. An FOB price excludes ocean freight and insurance. Compare offers on the same terms — see FOB vs CIF explained.
What does one container cost at these prices?
A standard 20ft container holds 700 cartons of 22.68 kg, or 15,876 kg. Multiplying by the price per kg gives the FOB value of a full container at the 28 September bulletin:
| Grade | US$/kg | FOB value per 20ft |
|---|---|---|
| WW240 | 8.00 | US$127,008 |
| WW320 | 7.10 | US$112,720 |
| A240 | 7.90 | US$125,420 |
| A320 | 7.35 | US$116,689 |
These are product values only. Freight, insurance, import duty and clearance come on top. How the 700-carton figure is built, and why a 40ft does not double it, is covered in our guide to cashew 20ft container capacity.
How do you compare a per-kg and a per-pound price?
SVC quotes in US dollars per kilogram; some buyers, particularly in the US, compare offers per pound. One kilogram is 2.2046 pounds, so divide the per-kg price by 2.2046. At the 28 September bulletin, WW320 at US$7.10/kg equals about US$3.22 per pound, WW240 about US$3.63 and A180 about US$4.08.
A price per kg means little without its date, its grade and its terms. We publish all three with every bulletin, so a buyer can compare our quote with any other on the same basis.
