Questions covered here
Halal, logistics, MOQ, and more
SVC has worked with importers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel for years. Across dozens of first-time buyer conversations from the region, the same five questions come up almost every time — sometimes in different words, always with the same underlying concern.
This article answers them directly, drawing on how SVC actually handles each one — not generic reassurance.
1Is your Halal certification recognised in our market specifically?
Why buyers ask this
Not every Halal certification body is accepted in every Middle Eastern market. A certificate accepted in Malaysia is not automatically accepted by UAE's ESMA or Saudi Arabia's SFDA. Buyers who have been burned by this before ask specifically, rather than assuming "Halal certified" is a universal pass.
SVC's answer
SVC's Halal certification is issued by an internationally recognised certifying body, with documentation available to confirm recognition status in the buyer's specific destination market before the order is confirmed — not after the container has sailed.
2What is your shipping route and transit time to our port?
Why buyers ask this
Middle East logistics have faced real disruption in recent years โ Red Sea routing changes, port congestion, and rerouting around the Cape of Good Hope have all affected transit reliability. Buyers want to know the actual current routing, not the pre-disruption assumption.
SVC's answer
Transit from Ho Chi Minh City to major GCC ports (Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Dammam) typically runs 18–22 days under current routing; Levant and Eastern Mediterranean ports run closer to 25–28 days. SVC provides current routing and realistic transit estimates at quotation stage, updated for any known disruptions.
3Can you supply small trial orders before we commit to a full container?
Why buyers ask this
Many Middle East importers โ particularly those serving multiple retail or food service accounts โ prefer to test a new supplier at smaller volume before committing to a full 20ft or 40ft container, especially for a first relationship.
SVC's answer
SVC accommodates trial orders below full container load for new relationships, consolidated where possible with other shipments to the same region to manage logistics cost. Full MOQ terms are confirmed at inquiry based on grade and packaging format.
4Do you provide Arabic labelling and documentation?
Why buyers ask this
Most GCC markets require Arabic on retail labels, alongside specific requirements for Halal logo placement, manufacturing and expiry dates, and importer information in Arabic. Buyers need to know this is handled correctly the first time โ mislabelled product can be held at customs.
SVC's answer
SVC's OEM and private label team manages Arabic label compliance as part of the standard packaging approval process, including Halal certification body logo requirements and bilingual (Arabic/English) formatting where applicable. Compliance is checked before artwork goes to print.
5How do you handle payment terms for a new relationship?
Why buyers ask this
Trust in a new cross-border relationship takes time to build. Buyers want to understand what payment structure is available for a first order โ full advance payment, letter of credit, or partial terms โ before they can plan cash flow around a new supplier.
SVC's answer
SVC works with new buyers on standard international terms โ typically T/T deposit with balance against shipping documents, or L/C for larger first orders. Terms are discussed openly at the inquiry stage and can evolve toward more flexible terms as the relationship is established.
The Pattern Behind The Five Questions
Every one of these questions is really the same underlying question asked five different ways: can I trust this supplier to get the details right for my specific market, not just in general? Generic reassurance ("we export worldwide") does not answer that. Specific, verifiable answers do.
Ask for written confirmation, not verbal assurance. Halal recognition, transit times, and label compliance should be confirmed in writing before the order is placed, not assumed from a general company presentation
Request a trial order if this is a new relationship. A supplier who resists small trial volumes for a first order may be signalling inflexibility that will show up in other areas of the relationship
Verify certification recognition for your specific country. Do not assume Halal, Kosher, or other certifications transfer automatically between markets โ always confirm for your destination specifically
💬 CEO Perspective
Middle East buyers ask sharper questions than most, and we respect that. It usually means they have been sourcing internationally for a while and have learned exactly where things go wrong. We would rather answer five hard questions upfront than resolve one shipment problem after the fact.
